The fertility plan looks at the equipment available, the farmer’s preferred products, what nutrients are in the soil, and what is readily available for this year’s crop. Soil samples from each field are analyzed, and the timing, type, and amounts of fertilizer needed to achieve the desired yield are determined.  Some fertility products can be used to mitigate abiotic stresses from the weather as well as any impact your post-herbicide pass may have on the crop, helping it metabolize the herbicide while it continues to achieve higher yield.

The Crop Protection Plan

Crop protection includes herbicide, insecticide, and fungicide applications to control threats not covered by seed characteristics in the hybrid portfolio. The protection plan has three primary goals:

• Eliminate problem weeds, insects, and diseases  before planting
• Using pre-emergent herbicides to prevent weeds 
• Keep the field clean after planting

Choices for each field are targeted at the invasive species that have historically presented challenges or are currently in that field.
